As we all know that the popular retro type games “flappy bird” was taken down by its creator when it becomes very popular and hits number one spot in Google play and in Apple App store. But a number of developers inspired to create a game that has similar gameplay and same level of complexity as the original flappy bird.

I will list down some of the clones that comes at the top among them all. Some of them can be played online and it is open source. Yes, open source meaning you can create your own flappy bird game clone too.

Clumsy Bird

Clumsy Bird

This is created using the MelonJS a so called lightweight HTML5 game engine. Graphics is closely similar to the original game. The maze uses the super mario like tube tunnel. Go ahead give it a try and beat my score as shown above.

Flying Dog

Flying Dog

Well as the title says dogs really cant fly nor flap. But in this game the creator uses a dog as its character riding a some kind of a retro jet plane. The maze is like a brick instead of a green tube. The level of complexity and game physics are close to the original. This is created on top of the Panda.js game engine.

Floppy Bird

Floppy Bird

This clone is created using HTML5 and Javascript. The graphics is a complete replica of the game. The game performance is close to the original. And you can play it in any screen size since it initially done to be responsive. As stated by the game author the game is kinda laggy but in my own opinion it adds difficulty of the game when it lags. Try it by yourself.

There is one thing that makes it cool and it is the save button which you can hit if you want to revive your did bird. But, yep you guessed it right, it costs something – a diamond which you purchase if you are to have one. Flappy or Clumsy, I think they are equally good apps because they both offer frustratingly good gameplay experience.
