I've been using the conditional comment way of pushing IE6 stuff into a separate style sheet and generally find I don't need to apply any hacks for other versions of IE. Used to be, but learned to work without them. I do understand that sometimes you have no other choice, but if you use strict standards and an occasional IE conditional statement you should be fine.
